I am mad at everyone for this. I am mad at SJM for not thinking about the optics of having Elain cringe at a biracial, disabled man breathing in the same space as this white girl without explaining what exactly she’s upset about and I’m mad at the fans for running with it and using it as a weapon against other fans in order to prop up their ship.

I don’t think the author had ANY intention of it coming off the way it is, but that doesn’t mean it’s not still a problem. And we should be talking about it outside of who we want Elain to hook up with.
